Mrs. Maria West
Maria A Harsin, daughter of Mr. amd Mrs. Garret Harsin, was born
in Marion County between Red Rock and Knoxville, July 20, 1843, and
died at the home of her nephew, I.G. Williams, in Des Moines, Nov 7,
1928, at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 18 days. With the
exception of four years spent near Eldorado, Kansas, and a short time
spent in Des Moines, her life was lived in Marion County.
In 1866 she was united in marriage to Thomas West. To this union two children were born, both of whom died in infancy. Some years later two children were adopted but they also passed to the other world at an early age.
In 1904 the family went to Eldorado, Kansas, and it was there that Mr. West died in 1908. Deceased, came back to Pleasantville where she continued to reside until about three years ago, when she went to Des Moines.
Funeral services were conducted Friday morning, Nov 9, at the local Methodist church, conducted by Rev, O.E. Cooley. Interment was in the Pleasantville cemetery, Pleasantville News.
