Funeral services for Melva Mae Cole, 79, were held at 2 p.m. on
Monday, May 5, 2008, at the Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Marie
Fitts officiating. Burial followed in the Valley View Cemetery. Melva
died May 2 at Torrington Community Hospital. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions directed toward funeral expenses would be
appreciated by the family.

Melva was born April 15, 1929 in Scottsbluff, Neb., the daughter of Melvin and Ruth (Harsin) Mott. She grew up and attended schools at Morrill and Scottsbluff. Melva then worked as a waitress at various cafes in the area. She met Paul Cole and the couple moved to Missouri to help with Melva?s parents and family. Melva and Paul were married May 5, 1961 at Forsyth, Mo., where the couple owned and operated gas stations. In 1980 they moved to Torrington.
Melva had a love for plants and reading, and she enjoyed garage sales. Melva had a great sense of humor and she loved her family.
She is survived by her husband Paul of Torrington; one son, Paul Michael Cole of Torrington; one daughter, Katherine Cole of Torrington; one sister, Sandra Douglas of Bridgeport, Neb.; one brother, Milton Mott of Scottsbluff; three grandchildren, Shaun, Bethany and Ben; two great-grandchildren, Grace and Blake; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lila Ford and Eva Mott; and two brothers, Clinton Mott and Ralph Mott.
